Gold truck helps Caernarfon transport company celebrate 50 years
CAERNARFON company H.F. Owen Transport & Storage is celebrating 50 years in the business with the delivery of five new tractor units from Hexagon Leasing.
One of the trucks has been wrapped in celebratory gold livery to mark the milestone and all have been supplied on a three-year lease.
Geraint Walker, Transport Manager at H.F. Owen said: “We are delighted to be celebrating our 50th anniversary and wanted to mark the occasion with five new DAFs.
“We chose DAF because they seem to be very comfortable for the drivers which is crucial when out tramping all week around the country.
“They also perform very well in MPG against the competition.
“Also, Holyhead Trucks Services who are our local DAF dealer are only 20 minutes down the road which makes our lives much easier.
“I’m sure we’ll have a lot more to do with Hexagon in the future.”
H.F. Owen was founded by Harry Fraser Owen in 1972, making brick and milk collections and deliveries.
Two years ago, Harry retired and the company was bought by North Wales logistics firm Delivery Solutions (Delsol) Ltd but has continued to trade under the H.F. Owen name.
Today, it offers reliable and flexible haulage, warehousing and distribution services, operates a fleet of 12 vehicles and has a workforce of 15.
This includes Harry’s daughter Helen (depot manager) and son Harry Jr., the driver who will be receiving the gold truck.
Hexagon Leasing is a multiple award-winning contract hire, rental and fleet management provider.
Founded in 2001, the business has more than 3,000 assets and supplies and manages some of the highest-profile transport and distribution companies in the UK.
David Hodgkinson, Head of Sales at Hexagon Leasing said: “We work in partnership with our customers and are delighted to welcome H.F. Owen to our client list during their milestone year.
“We are committed to providing and ensuring maximum fleet uptime and compliance for all our customers and are proud to hold a demonstratable MOT first-time pass rate of 95 per cent across the Hexagon fleet exceeding industry standards.”
Simon Walker, Director of Delsol added: “The growth of H.F. Owen over the last two years has been set against the background of possibly the most challenging conditions in the industry since the 1940s.
“However, the same rules apply – the country needs transport and we get nothing without trucks on the roads.
“The challenge is trying to balance all the factors and headwinds to maintain a successful company, and we are achieving this.
“As H.F. Owen enters its 50th year, we have a great team and a large and varied customer base in North Wales and across the UK – here’s to the next 50!”
